I heard today, but don’t know for sure, that the “order” has no teeth. Pharma does not HAVE to comply. Maybe they will lower prices marginally on certain things, but I’m not holding my breath. Also, this may be another dumb “deal” he has made: Pharma has made clear: “Stay OFF our mRNA products and we will perhaps lower drug costs so you can have a win”- Most meds Americans take, do not address root causes of their maladies anyway. It’s an “I’ll give you this, if you give me that.” Yes, I’m cynical as hell. Can’t be any other way after the last five years of nightmarish happenings.

Agree with you, Mel. Most drugs prescribed for those on Medicare Part B do not help, often make people worse, lead to more testing, and more drugs, and more illness, yada yada yada. Maybe not true for everyone, but the pattern does seem to recur among people I know or have heard about. And endless Mery-go-round that’s not so merry.

Drug prices in the US are insane compared to other nations. I have been giving prescriptions to patients for years to order drugs from Canada

Let’s hope it doesn’t end up just being a “headline” with no substance.

Time will tell.

We will have Trump & his elite teams “REPORT card on hand” - PROMISES made, Promises fulfilled.

He liked to tell others “YOU’RE FIRED”…hope we don’t have to wish the same for him.

Just so we are clear. Trump mentioned Australia as one of those countries which have drug prices cheaper than the US. This has absolutely zero to do with any special deals for Australia. Our politicians are as weak as piss and couldn't negotiate themselves out of a wet paper bag. Prices are cheaper because they are put on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Drugs on there are subsidised by Australian taxpayers. So, we taxpayers subsidies BigPharma profits. BigPharma still gets full price for drugs on the PBS. It;s just that the govt (taxpayers) fund the discount to citizens.

It's somewhat ironic that the main problem Republicans including Trump had with Obamacare is that it interfered in the free market of healthcare.

There will likely be some administratively possible under the executive order.

However, it is usually necessary to have a law that is the basis for being passed in both the House of Representatives.

More than 70% of the top and bottom lawmakers, including Republicans, have received donations from pharmaceutical companies.

I think the chances of laws being included in loopholes are high.

The public needs to continue to work tirelessly to lawmakers.

At the same time, it is necessary to spread the idea of patients' health-first, specific medical institutions and doctors.
