I find it troubling that Trump refuses to admit that the lock down (which resulted in inflation) and Operation Warp Speed (development of the mRNA "gene editing" jab which led to 17 million deaths world wide) were terrible ideas. One measure of a real man is to admit when you are wrong. The Tariffs will also most probably lead to huge investment losses, especially for those on fixed incomes.

In 1971 Nixon took us off the gold standard and the US dollar became a fiat currency. Because of this, and other measures, labor and corporate profits began to diverge as corporations reaped the benefits and workers took it up the butt. I lived through this as I am now approaching my 71st birthday. No more COLA's (cost of living adjustments), fewer and fewer pensions, and a transition to part time employment to corporations that wanted to avoid benefit costs. This trend partially explains why our young adults are still living with their parents, not having children etc. While I did vote for Trump (2016 and 2024) I find his tariff policies very disconcerting. We did not vote for this. In a mere 2 weeks Americans saw their investments and 401-Ks ravaged, already losing 7 to 10% of their investments. After the 2008 dot-com bubble it took nearly 10 years for investors to regain their losses. Meanwhile he wants even more money to go to the very rich through the current budget bills. To be clear that is not what he promised and most American's can no longer afford to "suck it up." I think the reason my last essay was under read was because most of my readers are, in fact, Trump supporters. But as a journalist my role is not to act as a mindless partisan for Trump or anyone else. When I see him fucking over the middle and lower class it is my duty to call it out. I've been writing for over 36 years and just saying . . . I'm ussually right at the end of the day.
