On September 9, 2021, President Joseph Biden issued executive orders mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for all federal employees and introduced new vaccine mandates that impacted around 100 million Americans.

Congress was exempt from the mandates.
How did it affect me? Lots of stress. Went back to the functional medicine doctor I had consulted with a few years before and got a medical exemption. Also, sincerely and studiously wrote out my religious exemption and made peace with the thought that I could be fired, but knew I could not get any of these vaccines. First, I went through the process of messaging my endocrinologist to inquire about safety with my autoimmune condition and saw the message was hijacked by some unknown Dr who didn't even look through my chart carefully or at all and I started to wonder if this was a foretaste of socialist medicine? I had my religious exemption denied by an unknown entity with no way to contest and was abandoned by my union which really didn't surprise me as one rep gave me a hard time with flu shot harassment years before and thought his opinion as a PA was going to impress me. Had my temporary medical accepted and saw the next set of forms more invasive, then saw how the website was dysfunctional when I tried to upload an updated medical exemption and despite contacting union, HR and covid monitoring person; no one could figure it out and just ignored it until I was suddenly suspended with hours notice months after working without an updated form in place. I would've enjoyed that time off a lot more if I had known they were going to end up paying me by accident. I did not sign the form they stuck to my locker after I came back giving them permission to take back the money they mistakenly paid me. It took about a week to get my computer access back so I worked as an expensive CNA during that time. A lot of disquieting thoughts and feelings coming back while writing this out. God provided and I have used that experience in recent times to remind myself that all of the worrying did not help and was not needed.
